SBM was an independent, family-run SME, which moved to a whole new dimension with the takeover of Bayer Garden in 2016. The Lyon-based company had to evolve in record time in order to support its new status and manage its progression.
SBM chose Sage X3 and Deveho Consulting Group to help them implement the information system for their newly established SBM Life Science division, which was developed in two phases over 12 months and deployed throughout twenty countries.
The transfer agreement was very precise and set out two distinct deadlines. “The first phase would enable us to integrate the commercial and marketing divisions of Bayer Garden into our own operations, while Bayer retained control of the production process. In order to combine the Garden division taken over from Bayer with our previous operations in this field, our first challenge was, therefore, to organise the company to be in a position to market, deliver and invoice the end product for our customers” ( Mandarine Radisson, Administrative and financial Director at SBM).
Building an information system in just five months and without a safety net was an unprecedented challenge. “We had to build everything from A to Z: an information system and infrastructures. To succeed in our challenge, we needed an ERP that was fast, flexible and quickly operational. We had complete confidence in the Sage solution, which has always met our expectations for our production division in France”.
